  1. ABOUT THE CD-ROM
  2. The following items are contained on the CD-ROM accompanying the book for your exploration and use. 
  3. To use the folders, simply select the one you wish to open and then select the images  you want to open .  
  4. The book  also comes with a pair of 3D glasses to use in viewing the 3D Folder images.

  6. ? PARTS FOLDER: This folder has a huge collection of ready-to-composite characters and 
  7. backgrounds that you can composite into your own 3D Comix.  Resolutions vary. You will need  
  8. Photoshop or another suitable  2D painting/effects application to work with these images. Another 
  9. alternative would be to use these items in Adobe After Effects. What you have to make sure of is that 
  10. the application you are using to create compositions has Layers, and that you have some experience 
  11. with their use. If you are working-familiar with a 3D application (like 3D Studio Max, LightWave, 
  12. Carrara, Bryce, or any other 3D software you might have that allows you to apply a texture to a plane), 
  13. these images can also be used as components in a 3D environment. You will have to read the 
  14. documentation that comes with the 3D software you are using in order to do this.

  16. ? 3D FOLDER: Here is a collection of images rendered with the Cult 3D plugin for After Effects, so 
  17. you can appreciate them  with the 3D glasses included with the book.  Just import them into Photoshop 
  18. (or any other suitable 2D application), put on the 3D glasses and take a look! DonΓt stare at the screen 
  19. for over twenty minutes however, since this can cause eye strain. If you move your head from side-to-
  20. side when viewing images through the 3D glasses, youΓll be able to appreciate the 3D layers and depth 
  21. perception more.

  24. ? POSER 4:  This folder contains a demo version of Poser 4, a tool youΓll probably want to use when 
  25. creating your own 3D Comix. If you are serious about 3D Comix work, you will want to take the 
  26. earliest opportunity to purchase a full version of Poser. http://www.curiouslabs.com
